Niche site #1 update and where I plan to go in 2013

So the New Year is right around the corner, and everyone is planning out their goals for the year and how they plan to achieve them. Most will fail, and give up on them within the first couple months. But non the less they still make goals every year. This is no different for me, and Here on the Void-life blog I make my goals for my online business.
My goal for my Business was always to attempt to make a passive income online. There are many ways to go about that. but the most popular one that I can think of is Niche websites. So for 2013 I plan on continuing my work on my Niche websites, and would like to have a total of 4 Niche websites ranked and making money by the end of the year. And trust me I know that 4 sites is not a lot. In fact there are people making 20-30 sites a month, but they are outsourcing the work. This will all be done by hand, as anyone starting out, and not wanting to invest in it until they see profit would be doing.
Niche Site #1
So to prepare for the new year, I would like to give an update as to the first Niche site that I created, and this is the Niche Site #1. I started the site in January of 2012. and took my time with it. and over the last few months I have been ranked for over 92 keywords! However, for some unknown reason I got slapped with a Penalty from Google. Now the site ranks for 2 terms, and they are in position 400 and higher..
Needless to say the site is not earning currently. I have also removed all AdSense ads from it. I have kept one of the Amazon posts on there since that has been there for a while. But my latest Amazon post has been removed for now. The nice people over at The Warrior Forums have been helping me to figure out what went wrong. Right now the best guess is that my site was considered a Thin Affiliate site and was penalized. My hopes are that by removing Ads and the latest post containing Amazon links that the site will get ranked again.
The site also recently had Share this installed, and I have actually been getting links from it as people start to share it to Social media sites like twitter and Facebook. If all goes as planned I will be able to restore my rankings and re-apply my Google AdSense. But for now the site is sitting in no-man’s land.
WebAnswers
While Talking to a friend about my Online Business we were talking about WebAnswers, and he brought up a very valid point. If my goal is to earn a passive income, then why am I using WebAnswers. there is nothing passive about it; I need to constantly answer questions to keep my rating up. and if I don’t then my share of ad time is reduced. This really struck me as something odd. It felt like passive income because it was going to my Google AdAense account. But in reality it is not passive at all. So I have decided to stop with Webansers for now; even though I have no other source of income right now, WebAnswers does not go with the direction I want my business to take.
Niche Site Plan
I hope that my goal for 4 ranked and earning Niche Sites is not too hard, while I expect there to be Failures and bumps in the road, I hope that by only having a goal of 4 sites allows for me to spread my time out on each of them and give them the attention they need to be successful. I will hopefully get Niche site #1 ranked again, and be able to earn with AdSense from it again. And Niche site #2 I need to get more content on before I try and SEO.
The whole incident with my first Niche site being penalized made me realize I need to fill the sites out more than I have in the past. No more 5 page sites, I would like to have between 15-20 pages on each site. I will have to target Long Tail keywords for this, and hope that I gain enough traffic to consider the sites a success.
the Void-life blog
As for here on the Void-life blog, I would like to be more consistent with my posting schedule. Actually get a post out every week or two; unlike in the past where I have wanted to get posts out, but allowed for things to get in the way. So my goal would be to get at least another 25 posts out in 2013. I may also start a mailing list, and create a free e-book. but my main goal is to have consistency with my posts, and to succeed over all.
